Jamie Carragher has given his reaction on Sky Sports to former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool star believes that people may question Arsenal’s decision to let the striker leave for free in January 2022 and Chelsea now paying a transfer fee to bring him back to the Premier League from Barcelona.
Carragher believes that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was right to get rid of the Gabonese striker, and thinks that he is a good signing for Chelsea.
Arsenal terminated the contract of Aubameyang at the end of the 2022 January transfer window.
The striker subsequently moved to La Liga giants Barcelona on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old scored 11 goals and gave one assist in 13 La Liga starts and scored two goals in five UEFA Europa League starts for Barcelona during the second half of last season.
Chelsea competed the signing of Aubameyang on summer transfer deadline day.
According to Sky Sports, the Blues paid Barcelona £10 million in transfer fees plus Marcos Alonso for Aubameyang.

Jamie Carragher on former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving to Chelsea
Carragher told Sky Sports about Aubameyang joining Chelsea: “He’s a quality player, there is no doubt about that. I think it’s a good signing.
“People may question Arsenal’s role in this and the fact they let him go for free, and now Chelsea are paying money for him 12 months later.
“I think it’s a good signing for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea, and also the right decision from Mikel Arteta – look at where Arsenal are right now.
“We know Aubameyang brings goals and quality but at times there are maybe situations and misdemeanours off the pitch or within the dressing room and Arteta couldn’t stand for that.
“But Tuchel knows him well from their time at Borussia Dortmund and, as a neutral, I’m delighted he’s back in the Premier League because he’s a brilliant player.”
