Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored Unai Emery’s side’s equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday.

Aubameyang scored Arsenal’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford yesterday, but it was only thanks to VAR that the goal stood.
Aubameyang had originally been flagged offside before he chipped the ball over David De Gea and into the back of the net, but replays showed that Harry Maguire was comfortably on.
In the moment the £56 million (BBC Sport) Arsenal forward felt that he was onside, but he cut his celebrations short, as he could hear fans telling him that the linesman had his flag up.
However, it turned out to only be a momentary delay, as referee Kevin Friend eventually ruled that the goal should stand.
“I was sure I was onside – I was surprised the referee whistled but I finished as usual and always try to score even if I hear the whistle. I heard the crowd saying it was offside but it was a goal so I was happy,” Aubameyang said, when asked about the incident.

Arsenal had fallen behind against United when Scott McTominay lashed home from distance, but they fought back well in the second half.
Aubameyang’s goal was a deserved reward in the end, as Arsenal claimed a credible point from Old Trafford.
Unai Emery’s side have now moved up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
