The Arsenal midfielder could make a big difference for West Ham United.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will surely be looking to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this month, in an effort to ensure that his squad are in a good position to make a sustained challenge for the top seven during the second half of the season.
One particular area where the Chilean might be looking to bolster is his central midfield department, with more competition required for Declan Rice and Mark Noble.
Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere are both out with long-term injuries, and with this in mind, the Hammers should consider a move for Arsenal man Mohamed Elneny.
The 26-year-old is a tenacious, tough-tackling central midfielder, but he also possesses an impressive range of passing.
He is comfortable in possession and would undoubtedly help West Ham improve upon the fluidity of their play through the middle of the park.
Elneny is currently well down the midfield pecking order at Arsenal, so Unai Emery could surely be tempted into selling the Egyptian this month.
It could be argued that the Gunners ace would be an upgrade upon Pedro Obiang, and he would bring much stronger competition to Pellegrini’s current midfield options.
Elneny currently earns £55,000 per week at Arsenal, according to Spotrac, so he would be well within West Ham’s pay structure.
And if Pellegrini manages to bring the Egypt international to the London Stadium this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Hammers.
