Something is clearly not right with Mesut Ozil at Arsenal at the moment.

The former Real Madrid playmaker hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gunners since football resumed on June 18.

First, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta omitted him from the 20-man squad because of his attitude, and then we were told that a back injury was the reason for his absences, after returning to the bench for games against Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 31-year-old has now been missing for Arsenal’s past four games across all competitions and it remains to be seen what is really going on.

Ozil, who joined the North Londoners in 2013, has sent a cryptic tweet on Twitter comprised only of emojis.

The player was responding to a Twitter user who uploaded a compilation of his best bits this season – and here’s how Ozil responded:

Thing is, Arsenal don’t seem to be missing him all that much.

Arteta’s side have won four of their last five games in all competitions and should’ve made it five in a row last night in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Ozil is definitely a big, big talent, but at this moment in time it doesn’t seem as if the team need him.
