The Arsenal man would be a useful addition to the West Bromwich Albion squad.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis will be desperate to bolster his options before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month, as he looks to build a squad capable of improving upon last season’s 10th placed finish in the Premier League table.
One particular area of concern for West Brom will be the right-back department, with the club solely reliant upon Craig Dawson to fulfil the role throughout the course of the entire campaign.
With this in mind, the addition of an established right sided defender will surely feature highly on Pulis’ agenda, and a useful option for them could be Gunners full-back Mathieu Debuchy, whose future at the Emirates is uncertain to say the least.
The experienced Frenchman would be the ideal signing for the Baggies, and would provide stringent competition for Dawson in the right-back slot.
At 32, the former Newcastle United man is not the player he once was, but he still has plenty left to offer at the very highest level. He might not be able to get up and down the right flank like he used to, but his defensive capabilities are still extremely competent.
The 27-capped France international’s current deal with Arsenal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2019, but French media outlet L’Equipe believe that Arsene Wenger could be tempted to allow Debuchy to leave for free, in an effort to get him off the wage bill.
And if Pulis does manage to bring him to the Hawthorns on a free transfer, or for a minimal amount, it could tun out to be a signing of real significance for West Brom.
