West Bromwich Albion should consider joining Newcastle United in the race to sign the Arsenal forward.
And the Baggies should consider joining the Magpies in the race to sign the former Deportivo La Coruna forward.
Tony Pulis has already signed Jay Rodriguez this summer, and Perez would be the ideal strike partner for the former Southampton man.
Lucas Perez of Arsenal
He is incredibly gifted technically, and would add a certain level of nouse and know-how to West Brom’s attacking play. He is also an accomplished finisher – something that Pulis’ side desperately need after their poor tally of just 43 Premier League goals last term.
The Spaniard can play through the middle, or out wide on either flank, which would provide Pulis with the option of playing with two strikers up top, if he so chooses.
Baggies fans will be desperate for their side to improve this season, rather than see their club stagnate. The safety and stability that Pulis has brought to the Black Country outfit is all well and good, but there has to come a point where the club attempts to make genuine strides to make progress.
And the signing of someone of Perez’s quality would certainly be a statement of their intent. It would give the Hawthorns faithful something to get excited about, and would undoubtedly provide West Brom with a more potent threat for the season ahead.
