Rafa Benitez is looking to bolster his Newcastle squad ahead of the upcoming season after a meek backing last summer, in which he attempted to sign a whole host of players – one of which was Arsenal’s forgotten man Lucas Perez.

Arsenal signed the Spaniard in 2016 for £17 million from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna, and was tipped to become a success at the Emirates – having amassed an impressive 17 goals in the league previously. However the stars didn’t align for Perez in north London.

After a season on the fringes, followed by a fruitless loan back to Deportivo – with them being relegated – the player’s market value is likely to have plummeted, leaving Benitez able to once again move for the his signature this summer, and he really should.
