I’m generally optimistic and don’t usually coin a single loss as disaster, but what happened yesterday to a struggling Norwich was a disaster. And it surely was as huge eye opener for a complacent Arsenal.
So the lessons we have got to learn to move ahead.
1. Walcott needs to sign.
It was being said a few months ago that RVP would be the biggest summer signing. Even if he had signed, it wouldn’t have been the best signing, this for me was Cazorla and Podolski. And if Walcott does commit himself to the club he’ll be the next big signing. The Gunners were toothless in attack, no real threat in terms of pace, and pace is what Walcott offers.
2. Gervinho can’t be trusted.
I like Gervinho, he has football brain in him, he’s good, he’s important, but not a player who’ll be a real threat day in and day out. He’s quick in finding spaces making dangerous runs, but he needs to be a lot quicker in finding a pass or take shots.
3. Gibbs has become a very important part of our defensive unit.
No disrespect to Santos, he’s skillful, no doubt Brazilians are, but he’s not a defender smart enough for the Premier League. Gibbs undoubtedly has the quality to be Englands best.
4. Rosicky’s presence is essential.
Cazorla is without a doubt the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League but he’s being over used. Yesterday there was something missing in him, something I would call the Rosicky factor, the factor which defines the ability of a player to never give up.
5. Arshavin needs more games.
I’ve always been a huge fan of this tiny little Russian, but I’m sorry, you cannot make a player of his quality sit on the bench, and then expect him to create the magic he used to when coming on for 10 mins.
6. We need a Song replacement.
Ramsey is not a player who can perform defensive duties, its a shame even to expect that out of him, and while we wait for Jack to return expecting Diaby to be fit regularly is a gamble. We need a player who knows how to perform defensive duties when needed.
