The Arsenal man would be the perfect addition to Liverpool’s squad this summer.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp faces a busy summer ahead of him at Anfield, as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours on all fronts this season.
One particular area of concern for the German will be the left side of his defence, after James Milner performed the auxiliary left-back role for the entirety of last season, as his trust in Alberto Moreno totally diminished.
With this in mind, Liverpool have been linked with plenty of left-backs already this summer, including a move for Hull City’s Andrew Robertson, who is thought to be valued at around £8 million, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs celebrates
Whilst the Scot is highly talented, there is surely better value out there, and more specifically, Gunners defender Kieran Gibbs, who is also available for £8 million, according to the Mirror.
The 27-year-old Arsenal star would bring far more experience of playing at the highest level to the Liverpool side, and his electric pace would perfectly fit into Klopp’s vision of how he wants his full-backs to exert themselves.
Whilst Gibbs has not established himself as the first choice left-back during his time in north London, he has always performed admirably when called upon, and at this stage of his career, he will surely be looking for a club where he is given regular action in the starting XI.
One potential stumbling block could be the Gunners’ reluctance to sell the 10-capped England international to a top-four rival, but with Arsene Wenger in the market for so many expensive, talented stars, he may well deem Gibbs as a player who would not come back to haunt them, should they sell him to Liverpool.
And with the Reds’ need for a left-back so pressing, they should not hesitate in moving for the Arsenal star, and prioritise his signing over anything else.
