Aston Villa should seriously consider a move for the Arsenal star.

Steve Bruce will be desperate to bolster his attacking options at Villa Park this summer, with Jonathan Kodjia expected to miss the start of the season after breaking his ankle last term, and Ross McCormack’s future uncertain to say the least.

Villa fans are expecting a serious push for promotion this term, and the addition of an established forward will be of paramount importance to their hopes of doing just that.

Their woeful tally of just 47 goals scored proved costly to their hopes of finishing inside the top six last season, with a lack of guile in and around the penalty box a main contributing factor to their struggles.

With this in mind, Bruce should consider signing Gunners forward Joel Campbell, who has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce, according to Turkish media outlet Futbol Arena.

The 25-year-old signed for Arsenal in 2011, but has failed to establish himself at the Emirates, making just 23 Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side since then.

It is little wonder though, what with the amount of talented attackers present in the Gunners squad.

The Costa Rican still has a lot to offer, however, and could thrive playing under Bruce at Villa Park, if given the opportunity of regular first-team football.

He is at his best when deployed in the wide right attacking role, and is renowned for cutting inside onto his favoured left-foot.

The fact that he is naturally left-footed would provide more balance to the Villans’ attack, which is currently heavily weighted with right-footed players.

Campbell is technically accomplished, and has a tireless work ethic – something that is a prerequisite to success in the Championship.

He would undoubtedly improve Villa’s attacking play, and if Bruce manages to bring him to the Midlands, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance, as far as their hopes of returning to the top flight are concerned.
