Carl Jenkinson is set to join Birmingham on loan along with Arsenal teammate Cohen Bramall, but should Huddersfield have made a move?
Birmingham City are closing in on a double deal to sign Arsenal full-backs Cohen Bramall and Carl Jenkinson, reports the Mirror, with the latter a particular coup for the Championship club.
Jenkinson is no longer in Arsene Wenger’s first team plans at the Emirates Stadium having played just five matches for the club over the past three seasons – 18 months of which he did admittedly spend on loan at West Ham United.

Despite this there has been recent interest from the Premier League in the 25-year-old, with Crystal Palace trying to sign him last term and the Mirror claiming earlier this month that Swansea City were also keen.
That is why it is impressive that Blues manager Harry Redknapp has tempted Jenkinson to the second tier and perhaps highlights that Huddersfield Town have missed an opportunity.
The newly promoted team are in the market for a right-back, with boss David Wagner admitting to Sky Sports on Friday (August 18) that a deal to sign Andy Yiadom from Barnsley had fallen through despite a fee being agreed for the Ghana international.
As a result, arguably Jenkinson could have been the perfect addition for the Terriers with 90 top tier matches to his name and as a loan would have represented a much smaller financial risk.
As it is Birmingham looks to be the England international’s next destination, with Gunners teammate Bramall joining him at St Andrew’s as the North Londoners want the 21-year-old – signed from non-league Hednesford Town in January – to get regular game time to aid his development.
