Arsenal’s Premier League fixtures for the 2021/22 Premier League season have been released.

The Gunners kick off their season with a London derby away from home against Brentford.

It’s the Bees’ first game as a Premier League club, which might dominate the headlines ahead of the match.

But there’s another dimension to the clash – Ivan Toney’s presence in Thomas Frank’s attack.

Toney is apparently a target for Arsenal, as they look for a long-term solution to lead the line.

The 25-year-old would cost in the region of £40 million, according to ex-Peterborough chief Barry Fry, speaking to the Daily Mail.

The transfer window will still be open by the time the game takes place.

That means it gives Toney an opportunity to show Mikel Arteta up close just how good he is.

We’re not saying Arsenal will go out and try and get Toney if he puts in a masterclass on opening day.

But they might see up close what they’re missing as the hitman looks to kick off his top flight campaign with a goal.

It’s a big summer for Arsenal, which has thus far been characterised by fruitless chases for Emi Buendia and Martin Odegaard.

As yet, there’s been no movement on Toney either and that could come into sharp focus after the opening weekend of the season.
