According to ESPN, Arsenal and Lyon will hold more talks regarding the transfer of Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Aouar is valued at €50 million (£44.85 million), and that Arsenal sporting director Edu has spoken to his Brazilian compatriot and Lyon sporting director Juninho.

The report has added that Manchester City are also interested in the 22-year-old French midfielder, described as “incredible” by Pep Guardiola on Sky Sports in November 2018.

Stats

Aouar made 23 starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon this past season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The 22-year-old midfielder also scored one goal and provided four assists in eight Champions League games for the French club in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Arsenal?

Aouar is one of the best young midfielders in Europe, and there is no doubt that he would make Arsenal a better team.

The Frenchman is only 22 years of age, and he will improve in the coming years.

However, Arsenal have only just signed Willian, and the Brazilian can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

Moreover, with the youngster being valued at €50 million (£44.85 million), it is hard to see the Gunners cough up that kind of cash this summer.
