Crystal Palace should consider a move for the Arsenal forward this summer.
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson deserves great credit for the job he did at Selhurst Park last season, guiding his side to an impressive 11th placed finish in the Premier League table.
The 70-year-old hasn’t rested on his laurels either, bringing in Max Meyer and Vicente Guaita on a free transfers and Cheikhou Kouyaté from West Ham for around £11 million.
He is still yet to bolster his centre-forward department, however, and if the Eagles are to enjoy a successful Premier League campaign this term, they absolutely must sign an established striker to provide more competition for Christian Benteke.
With this in mind, Crystal Palce should join the race to sign Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck.
According to a repot from the London Evening Standard, Everton, Southampton and Bournemouth are all interested in the Gunners hitman, whilst Goal claims that he is valued at around £15 million.
Palace hold a trump card over all of those clubs, however.
The fact that they are based in London would surely appeal to Welbeck, in the sense that it would take minimal fuss in swapping north London for south London.
The 27-year-old England international would offer Hodgson a totally different option in the final third, what with his blistering pace, and willingness to make runs in behind the opposition’s defence.
And for the reported fee of just £15 million, Crystal Palace could secure themselves a real coup by bringing the Arsenal front-man to Selhurst Park.
