The Arsenal full-back is just the type of player West Bromwich Albion should be looking to sign.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis is seemingly once again struggling to sign some of his top transfer targets this summer, despite adding Jay Rodriguez to his squad earlier this month.

One particular area where West Brom need to improve is the right-back position, with Pulis too heavily reliant on Craig Dawson to perform the role throughout the entirety of the campaign.

And with this in mind, the Black Country outfit should enter the race to sign Gunners full-back Carl Jenkinson, who has been inked with a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion, according to ESPN.

The 25-year-old has failed to establish himself as a regular first-team member of the Arsenal side, since moving to the Emirates in the summer of 2011, making just 27 Premier League starts for Arsene Wenger’s men in the process.

He does still have a lot to offer at the very highest level though, and with his high energy levels, along with the 100 per cent commitment he shows week in week out, he is seemingly an archetypal Pulis signing.

Jenkinson is strong in the tackle, and places priority on the defensive side of his game, which doesn’t mean that he is adverse to contributing to the attacking part of his side’s play, however, and he could be a real asset to West Brom in both departments.

The former Chortle Athletic man has just one year remaining on his current deal in north London, so he shouldn’t prove to be too costly, should Pulis make a move for him, and he could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Baggies.
