Arsenal have been active spenders in the transfer market lately, but with Andrea Berta now involved, they are starting to look sharper when it comes to moving players on as well.

Berta is not just focused on who comes in. He is also responsible for making sure Arsenal get the best possible value when players leave.

This started over the summer when players like Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos were moved out, though none of those deals brought in significant money.

Now, there could be another unexpected boost. Ajax are reportedly interested in one of Mikel Arteta’s early signings.

Zinchenko was one of the first major signings under Arteta, and he made a positive impact early on. But his time with Arsenal seems to be winding down, as he is currently out on loan at Nottingham Forest and struggling for game time.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Zinchenko could leave for free if no move is agreed before then. But there might still be a chance for Arsenal to secure a small fee for him this month.

Dutch outlet De Telegraaf reports that Ajax are interested in signing Zinchenko during this transfer window. Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering ending his loan spell early, which would clear the way for a move abroad.

Ajax have been looking to strengthen their squad at left-back and also want to bring in more experience. Zinchenko fits both needs, and if Arsenal can agree on terms, it could be a move that benefits all parties involved.

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s time at Arsenal should be looked back on fondly

Even though he is no longer part of the first-team picture, it is fair to say Zinchenko made a positive impact during his time with the Gunners.

He was seen as a key figure from the start, helping Arteta shape a new direction for the squad and bringing leadership qualities that had been missing.

Zinchenko also brought quality on the pitch. Kevin de Bruyne once described him as “unbelievable” during their spell together at Manchester City, and he showed plenty of that ability in North London.

Across 91 appearances for Arsenal since arriving in 2022, Zinchenko contributed three goals while playing both left-back and midfield roles. His adaptability was useful throughout his stint.

Looking back, most supporters will see his time at the club as a net positive. He played his part both on and off the pitch, helping push the team forward during an important period of transition.
