Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has taken to Instagram to post a message to fans after suffering a knee injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners welcomed Xhaka back into the side against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Swiss international had been suspended after his red card at Manchester City, but helped Arsenal beat Tottenham 3-1.

Xhaka suffered an injury in that win on Sunday though, and could now end up missing the rest of 2021.

Xhaka knee injury

The midfielder suffered a knee ligament injury in a collision with Lucas Moura.

A scan this week has now brought back significant damage to Xhaka’s medial ligament.

The current period of absence is set at around three months, meaning Xhaka may not play for Arsenal again until 2022.

With the January transfer window closed, Arsenal must now try to get through Xhaka’s absence without a new signing.

Xhaka posts Twitter message, ex-Arsenal man responds

Xhaka has now taken to Instagram, posting just four words alongside a photo of himself working out in a knee brace.

Xhaka stated ‘the recovery starts now’, showing Arsenal fans he’s wasting no time.

Former Arsenal players Emi Martinez and Johan Djourou both sent emojis to Xhaka, offering him some encouragement as he attempts to come back quickly.
