Goals are key for any striker to succeed in the game, and whilst Gabriel Jesus has impressed for Arsenal, the new Gunners’ no. 9 is still slacking behind Hale End academy graduate Folarin Balogun.
The 21-year-old attacker was sent out on loan to France this summer with Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims, and to say the deal has worked out would be something of an understatement, with Balogun this weekend bagging his seventh goal in the division, with the England youth international also racking up two assists.
With Jesus hitting five goals and five assists in all competitions, the Brazilian international’s record is hardly anything to scoff at, with the 25-year-old’s work off the ball arguably adding more to Arsenal’s new-look attack than the South American’s individual strikes.
However, with the striker again firing a blank this weekend against Southampton, some questions are being raised amongst Arsenal fans over if Jesus is the long-term answer to lead the line for the Gunners. And Balogun’s form in France only adds more problems for the summer arrival.
Folarin Balogun goals record is a worry for Arsenal’s current strikers

Balogun’s goalscoring form has quite literally been historic for Reims this season, with the striker the fast to bag five goals for the French club ever in their top-flight history, with the attacker’s goal contribution record even better than Neymar’s as per Les Stats de la Ligue 1.
Indeed, Balogun’s goalscoring instincts are developing better with each game for Reims, and with Jesus and even Eddie Nkeitha failing to hit the numbers many Arsenal fans are expecting from a leading striker, the Hale End wonderkid could have the potential to take the starting role for himself next season upon his return.
