Arsenal and Everton are reportedly interested in signing Nicolas Pepe after his superb start to the season.

The Lille man has scored five goals and contributed three assists in the top flight this term, so it is unsurprising that a number of sides, including the Toffees, were monitoring his situation.
Signing Pepe would seemingly be a fantastic piece of business given his current form, so Everton may perhaps be slightly frustrated to see that Arsenal are reportedly considering their own move for the Ivory Coast international.

But perhaps there could be one upside if it turns out to be the Gunners who lure Pepe away from Lille.

The report suggested that talks are not progressing at the moment, so bringing in another forward would surely push the England international closer to the exit, and that could potentially play into the Toffees’ hands if he has his eye on a potential switch to Goodison Park.
So while Pepe should arguably be Everton’s priority of the two given his start to the new season, they perhaps do not need to be overly disappointed if he joins their Premier League rivals as it may take a move for one of their other targets one step closer.
