Oleksandr Zinchenko has hailed William Saliba after Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
The Gunners went into the game with two wins from two having beaten Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
It was more of the same on Saturday as Arsenal proved too strong for the newly-promoted Cherries.
Martin Odegaard scored twice in the first half to set Arsenal on their way before William Saliba conjured up a quite stunning finish.
Granit Xhaka laid the ball back to Saliba on the edge of the box, and the French defender sent a left-footed strike looping over Mark Travers and into the net.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has hailed William Saliba
Set to the tune of Gunners fans incessantly chanting his name all night long, Saliba had another positive day in an Arsenal shirt.
Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Saliba has spent most of his time out on loan, leaving Arsenal fans to wonder just how he could perform in the Premier League.
Now back from Marseille, Saliba has gone straight into the Arsenal starting lineup and looks right at home.
Ben White may need to get comfortable at right back, because it doesn’t look like Saliba is dropping out of this Arsenal team any time soon.
Saliba has been earning praise from all corners of late and teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko has joined in.
Zinchenko is, alongside Saliba and Gabriel Jesus, another new addition to Mikel Arteta’s side and the Gunners look so much better for their impact.
Zinchenko has now told Arsenal’s official website that he thinks Saliba is ‘incredible’ and is crossing his fingers in the hope that Arsenal have an ‘unbelievable’ defender on their hands.
The Ukrainian added that Saliba deserves his new chant from the Arsenal fans and believes we will be hearing much, much more of it.
“He’s incredible.” Said Zinchenko. “It looks like this guy has got a lot of experience in his bag, but he’s still so young. Fingers crossed, we’ve got an unbelievable centre-back.”
“He’s such a nice guy and he deserves this. A massive thanks to our fans as well, they did unbelievably well during all the games and they helped us a lot and of course, William deserves that song. If we’re going to get a clean sheet every single game, they’re going to sing every time!” he added.
