
Some Crystal Palace supporters are raving about Alfie Matthews after the summer signing from Arsenal shone for the Eagles’ Under-23s.
Matthews spent 11 years on Arsenal’s books but left at the end of last season – shortly before his 19th birthday.
The attacking midfielder was later snapped up by Crystal Palace after impressing on trial with the Croydon club.
And he has been a regular feature in a Palace U23s side which has taken well to Category One-level football.
According to Soccerway, Monday’s game against Reading was Matthews’ fifth in Crystal Palace colours, an occasion he marked with his first two goals – along with an eye-catching assist for Brandon Pierrick – since arriving from Arsenal.

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club who saw one of their former talents signed by Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
As well as Matthews, Reece Hannam (West Ham United) and Harlem Hale (Southampton) each completed moves to Selhurst Park.
