Arsenal may need a new midfielder in January – and Paris Saint-Germain’s Georginio Wijnaldum is being touted for a move to North London.
Arsenal fancy Wijnaldum deal
Sky Sports report that Wijnaldum isn’t happy with his role at PSG and fancies a return to England.
Arsenal are thought to be keen on signing Wijnaldum on loan during the January transfer window.
Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are set to head off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January. Wijnaldum may be seen as a short-term solution for Mikel Arteta.
Wijnaldum only signed a huge £165,000-a-week PSG deal over the summer, but is already unhappy.
With just seven league starts this season, Wijnaldum hasn’t been given the game time he expects.
Arsenal could now offer an escape route – if PSG are willing to let Wijnaldum go.
Thierry Henry comments on Wijnaldum
The opinion of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry holds a lot of weight in North London, and he spoke about Wijnaldum earlier this season.
Henry told RMC Sport that Wijnaldum is ‘not a bad player’ and hasn’t turned bad overnight.

Henry thinks Wijnaldum is ‘still good’ but need structure – something that hasn’t happen for him yet at PSG.
Wijnaldum had great structure at Liverpool, playing regularly in a key role having been given time to settle in.
Whether Arsenal can provide that remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Henry doesn’t think Wijnaldum has quite fit in at PSG just yet.
“He’s not a bad player,” said Henry. “You don’t get bad in two months. I’ve seen him play for the Netherlands, he’s still good but he needs structure. A player like that needs be structured,” he added.
