Nayef Aguerd is back fully fit and West Ham United are seemingly ready to start him against Arsenal when Premier League action returns.

The Hammers were excited when they secured the signing of Aguerd from Rennes over the summer.

Newcastle United attempted to hijack Aguerd’s move to East London but West Ham secured a deal worth around £30million.

That excitement was quickly replaced by frustration though as Aguerd suffered a significant ankle injury in pre-season.

West Ham ready to unleash Nayef Aguerd

Aguerd has featured in a couple of Europa Conferene League games, started against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup and made his Premier League debut with a 75-minute substitute appearance against Leicester City.

That was just before the World Cup break and Aguerd has been key for Morocco in Qatar, helping them keep two clean sheets in two games.

That has only built up hype for West Ham fans around Aguerd and the 26-year-old looks ready to shine.

The Athletic now claim that Aguerd is looking likely to start for West Ham when they meet Arsenal on Boxing Day.

Kurt Zouma’s injury against Leicester means Aguerd is now primed for a first Premier League start after a longer wait than expected.

What a game to make your Premier League debut in too.

Arsenal will host West Ham in their first game back from the World Cup break and head into the game top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s men sit five points clear at the top and will be looking to make a fast start when Premier League action returns.

Depending on their World Cup involvements, Arsenal could unleash Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on the West Ham back line.

That’s where Aguerd will hopefully come in and make a big difference, potentially taking his World Cup form into Premier League action.
