Arsenal and West Ham both want Tawanda Chirewa as they line up potential raids for the Ipswich Town teenager this summer.

It turned out to be a disappointing end to the season for both Arsenal and West Ham.

Arsenal missed out on the Champions League as they watched rivals Tottenham swoop in and take fourth spot.

That means Europa League football for Arsenal, something West Ham will wish they had next season.

The Hammers couldn’t take advantage of another Manchester United defeat on the final day of the season.

West Ham lost 3-1 at Brighton and now head into the Europa Conference League.

Both teams need first-team additions this summer to try and rebound next term, but they may also look towards the future.

Arsenal and West Ham both want Tawanda Chirewa

According to TWTD, Arsenal and West Ham are both interested in signing Ipswich teenager Chirewa.

It’s stated that Chirewa impressed for Ipswich’s Under-23’s by scoring 12 times this past season.

Chirewa is only 18 so seeing him shine in Under-23 games is a major sign of his potential.

The report adds that Chirewa was set to be out of contract this summer but Ipswich have activated a one-year option on his contract.

Ipswich naturally want to keep Chirewa for years to come but Arsenal and West Ham are now interested.

The teenage forward can play for England or Zimbabwe and is now being eyed for developmental football in London.

Ipswich have a pretty strong record when it comes to producing young talent.

The likes of Darren Bent, Keiron Dyer, Titus Bramble and Darren Ambrose all became Premier League regulars after emerging through the Ipswich ranks.

The production line has slowed down a little but Arsenal did raid Ipswich’s youth twice in years gone by, signing Chris Kiwomya and Richard Wright.

Chirewa would follow in their footsteps, but Arsenal face a battle with West Ham.
