Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez has been praised by his former club AZ Alkmaar amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Since moving to the Vitality Stadium last summer from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, Milos Kerkez emerged as one of the breakout players from the Premier League.

The left-back developed a reputation for his superb play going forward for Bournemouth and was one of the signings of the season made by Andoni Iraola during his debut season on the South Coast.

Kerkez has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer with Mikel Arteta’s side looking for more defensive depth.

Former club director on Kerkez’s performance

Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS, AZ director Max Huiberts believes the left-back is one of the most mature players he has ever seen and is not surprised by the impact made by the Hungarian.

“In all those years, I have never seen a player who is so mature at such a young age,” Huiberts said. “He had the total package. If he said he was 25 years old, you would believe it.”

“He was impatient, in the good sense of the word. He wanted to achieve the maximum very quickly and did everything for that, on and off the field. He also spoke to the older players if things needed to be improved.

“As strange as it sounds, I knew that he would be great at such a young age and would make an impact in the Premier League. I would have trusted few other players with that in all the time I have been doing this work.”

Kerkez attracting interest from Premier League clubs

HITC has been told that Arsenal are one of the sides who are watching the defender.

The Gunners aren’t the only side understood to be keen on the Hungarian with HITC understanding that Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have watched the 20-year-old during the season. In fact, these sides all appreciated the defender before he moved to the South Coast.

Last season, the 20-year-old left-back played 28 Premier League games for the Cherries and provided one assist for his teammates.

A summer move could well be a possibility for the exciting Hungarian defender.
