Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Santiago Gimenez, and the Gunners would reportedly have to pay a lot in transfer fees for the forward.

According to 90min, Arsenal are among the clubs who are interested in signing Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

Chelsea have also watched the Mexico international in action in recent weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be keen on Gimenez.

However, it is not going to be cheap for Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham to sign the 22-year-old striker.

According to 90min, Feyenoord want as much as £87 million in transfer fees for Gimenez, the amount that Manchester United paid to Ajax for Antony.

My View: Arsenal should not pay £87m for Santiago Gimenez

I do not think that Arsenal should pay £87 million for Santiago Gimenez, either in the January transfer window or in the summer of 2024.

No way.

That is too much to pay for a 22-year-old who is playing in the Eredivisie.

The Eredivisie can be hit and miss in terms of players from that league coming to the Premier League.

For £87 million, Arsenal should look at a world-class striker who can hit the ground running at the Emirates Stadium and would be a less risky signing.

Gimenez has scored 13 goals and given three assists in nine Eredivisie matches for Feyenoord this season.

The striker has scored two goals in one UEFA Champions League game this season.

The youngster scored 15 goals and gave two assists in 21 Eredivisie starts and scored five goals in four UEFA Europa League starts for Feyenoord last season.

Arsenal are third in the Premier League table.

Feyenoord are also third in the Eredivisie table.
