Arsenal could look to sign another midfielder before the transfer window closes.
That is according to journalist Miguel Delaney.
He recently revealed on Twitter that Arsenal will look to bring in a No.6 but only if they are able to sell Folarin Balogun.
In his report for The Independent, Delaney also stated that the Gunners are demanding a fee of around £40m for the striker and if a deal happens, they will then enter the market for another midfielder.
Arsenal have already signed Declan Rice from West Ham United to strengthen their engine room, but it appears that Mikel Arteta wants more options in that area of the pitch.
A midfield that could rival Manchester City’s
As of now, it is fair to say that Manchester City have the best midfield in the Premier League.
In Kevin De Bruyne, they have a playmaker like no other, while Rodri often does a great job sitting just in front of the Premier League champions’ defence. Pep Guardiola has, of course, lost Ilkay Gundogan, but the arrival of Mateo Kovacic has soften the blow.
On paper, though, Arsenal’s midfield may not be too far off. Captain Martin Odegaard was both a scorer and creator for Arteta’s side last season.
In the Premier League, he registered 15 goals and provided seven assists. Rice is also a brilliant defensive midfielder, which is why the north London club were willing to spend so much money on him.
If Arsenal manage to sign another quality player to improve their engine room, it certainly will make things interesting.
City’s one is so experienced and has won so much. Perhaps it will not be overtaken by Arsenal’s for the time being.
However, the Gunners’ midfield is getting stronger, so the Citizens may need to watch out this season, especially if Arteta does go on to add another high-calibre No.6 to his squad before the transfer window closes.
