Arsenal will be looking at this game as a good opportunity to close the gap towards the top four with many teams around them facing difficult fixtures, and QPR will be looking to get their first points away from home.
To be played on Friday 26th December 2014 at 17:30. Venue: Emirates Stadium, London
Odds: Arsenal 3/10, Draw 5/1, QPR 12/1
Arsene Wenger has said his side must take advantage of the Christmas period, and the first of two London derbies for Arsenal being with a clash against Queens Park Rangers.
After this they face West Ham, as Wenger’s men will go in search of two wins from these games to close the gap on the top four, and put the disappointment of conceding a last minute equaliser at Anfield behind them.
The Gunners should be heavy favourites despite their inconsistencies from this season with their opponents without a point on the road this season.
QPR have been heavily reliant on their home form but they possess a striker in form in Charlie Austin, but they are a side that hasn’t looked like winning on the road. It is going to be a difficult task for them on Boxing Day at the Emirates Stadium.
A solid approach, but one without fear is one that Harry Redknapp must undertake. Getting a point against Arsenal would be a good place to start picking up points on the road, and ensuring they inflict a blow on their rivals to avoid the drop.
“It’s a London derby and we expect QPR to come and have a go at us. We have to take advantage of our Christmas schedule.”
Arsène Wenger
“I can’t see them being out the four, they do it every year and I don’t see why they won’t do it again this year.”
Harry Redknapp
