Arsenal fans react on Twitter as Leeds United bring Eddie Nketiah on loan to Elland Road

The Gunners ace has swapped the Emirates Stadium for Elland Road where he will learn under the Whites legendary boss Marcelo Bielsa.

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Eddie Nketiah has joined Leeds United on loan, swapping the Emirates Stadium for Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa’s tutelage for the duration of the 2019-20 season (official Arsenal website).

The 20-year-old striker joined the Gunners’ youth ranks in 2015 from Chelsea and made his first-team debut in September 2017 for Arsenal’s Europa League match against BATE Borisov, coming on as an 89th-minute substitute for Joe Willock as Arsenal won 4-2.

Nketiah has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal and scored three goals, including in Arsenal’s Premier League final day 3-1 win at Burnley last season but is yet to start in the league and was on the bench for the 4-1 Europa League final defeat to Chelsea in May (The Independent).

The England Under-21 international idolised Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Ian Wright as a youngster, and got coaching from Henry while he was at the club, as well as being congratulated by Wright (FourFourTwo) and being compared to him (The Telegraph).

Nketiah is Leeds boss Bielsa’s sixth signing of the summer window, joining Jack Clarke, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison, Illan Meslier and Ben White at Elland Road for this season.
