But the game remained goalless for just 12 minutes as Alexis Sanchez scored a delightful chip. And while it appeared that it would remain just 1-0 going into the break, Theo Walcott doubled Arsenal’s lead three minutes before half-time.
Any chance of a second-half fightback was immediately crushed as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put the game to bed one minute after the restart before Ozil took centre-stage.

The German is often the provider at the Emirates, but on this occasion, he was the man finding the back of the net as he scored a hat-trick in just over half an hour to round off the humiliation.
After the game, a handful of players took to social media to celebrate the victory. And while Ozil was keen to acknowledge his first treble, the general feeling was one of determination as Oxlade-Chamberlain suggested that the side must now switch their attention to their upcoming Premier League clash with Middlesbrough this weekend.
