Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has now agreed to a new contract at Stamford Bridge over being a free agent. He had attracted transfer interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to Foot Mercato, which reports Kante and Chelsea have now reached an agreement over a new contract. His extension could also keep the 31-year-old at Stamford Bridge until 2027. It can even take him to beyond a decade in west London if he sees it out.
Chelsea signed Kante from Leicester City in July 2016 for £30m after helping the Foxes win the Premier League title. The Blues later awarded the midfielder a £290k-a-week contract through to June 2023 in November 2018. But he is now approaching the end of that deal.

Stamford Bridge chiefs have made great efforts to convince Kante to pen another contract with the club. Chelsea and the 53-cap France midfielder have now found an agreement to extend his deal to 2026. It will include an optional extra year up to after his 36th birthday.
Kante is thrilled to extend his stay at Chelsea having made it his priority to agree to a new contract. The Paris-born anchor is comfortable and happy in London. He is now waiting for the Blues and his agent to settle on the finishing touches before then putting pen to paper.

Kante to deal Arsenal and Tottenham a transfer blow with his new Chelsea contract
Kante will also deal Arsenal and Tottenham a blow to their summer transfer intentions by signing a new contract at Chelsea. Foot Mercato has previously reported that the Gunners and Spurs were observing the midfielder’s situation. They knew his wish to stay in London.
Paris Saint-Germain also joined Arsenal and Tottenham by showing an interest in Kante’s transfer if he left Chelsea. The Ligue 1 giants tried several times to take the midfielder back to France. But the 2018 World Cup winner was not as motivated to return to his homeland.
But Chelsea have moved to fend off any interest Arsenal and Tottenham hold in a transfer by agreeing to a new contract with Kante. He may soon reward the Blues’ faith, as well, by returning from a hamstring injury in March. He suffered the blow against Spurs in August.
