Arsenal now face competition from north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.
That is according to L’Equipe, which reports that Tottenham chiefs are looking to sign David as a welcome present for their next manager.
Spurs are still without a permanent head coach after sacking Antonio Conte in March. Ryan Mason has also replaced Cristian Stellini in charge on an interim basis.

Tottenham chiefs are exploring a transfer for Jonathan David
Yet despite the uncertainty over who will take up the hot seat, Tottenham’s hierarchy are targeting the transfer of David.
Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also considering moves for the Canada international.
But Lille would demand €65m (£57.5m) to let David leave the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. The 23-year-old is under contract with Les Dogues until June 2025.
David is likely set to leave Lille at the end of the current season, though. He has more than proven his worth in northern France over the past three years.

Arsenal are a serious contender to sign Jonathan David
Arsenal are a serious contender to strike a transfer with Lille for David this summer, as well.
Reports by Calciomercato.it earlier in April noted that Arsenal are targeting David with Lille set to sell their star striker.
AC Milan have David at the top of their attacking shortlist, as well. But Arsenal pose serious competition for the Rossoneri among his many rival suitors.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will hope Arsenal presenting a more stable project proves more appealing to David should Tottenham also target his transfer from Lille.
The Emirates Stadium natives have shown clear progress since appointing the Spaniard in December 2019. Whereas Spurs are now without a permanent coach again.
Arsenal have also challenged for the Premier League title this season and have qualified for the Champions League already.
Tottenham can still book a place in UEFA’s premier club competition. But their chances of a place in the Champions League continue to diminish as results stutter.
David, who former Scotland defender Steven Caldwell called ‘special’ in February 2022, will surely demand Champions League football wherever he plays next season.
