Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Brighton wide man Leandro Trossard has rejected moves to two unnamed clubs to join Arsenal this month – with reports claiming he is about to complete a move worth £27million including add-ons.
Trossard, 28, is about to complete a move to Arsenal with a deal in place for the Belgian to move to The Emirates. It comes after Brighton chose to extend his contract by a year – which in turn, increased his asking price in the window.
Arsenal missed out on a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk this month – the Ukraine wonderkid joining Chelsea. Arsenal had to find another player and have been linked with the likes of Barcelona’s Raphinha, and Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.
But in the last couple of days, talks have progressed in a move for Trossard. Romano initially reported that it would be a four-year deal, before correcting himself later. Stating it would be a deal until 2026, for the Belgium winger.
Interestingly, the widely-renowned Italian reporter also claims that Trossard rejected moves to two other clubs to join the Premier League leaders. It is unclear when a deal will be confirmed, but Arsenal fans will not have to wait too long.
Romano: Trossard rejected two clubs to join Arsenal this month
A smart signing from Arsenal. The Gunners were prepared to pay more than £80million to sign Mudryk but the price was inflated. He is a top young player, but Trossard is so much cheaper – and proven in the Premier League of late.
The ex-Genk man has seven goals in 16 League games this season. Trossard is unlikely to start on a regular basis for the Gunners. But he will feature heavily as cover for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Especially, in Europe.
It is unclear if Trossard will be done in time to be part of Arsenal’s squad to take on Manchester United on Sunday. A crucial game. Mikel Arteta will be keen to get the winger to the club by that time – though, it will be close.
