Kris Boyd has stated that it’s ‘unfair’ to suggest that Arsenal signing Moises Caicedo would be a ‘risk’ because Yves Bissouma is struggling at Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Scotland international added that Moises Caicedo is a ‘Rolls-Royce’ of a player amid these Arsenal rumours and he is a ‘totally different’ player from the man in the middle of Tottenham’s park, as he told Sky Sports News (20/05/23 at 12:15 pm).

Following Yves Bissouma’s transfer to Spurs last summer, it opened the door for Caicedo to play on a regular basis at Brighton, with the former struggling to make his mark upon his arrival at Hotspur Way.

The hard-hitting midfielder has taken that chance with both hands, to the point that Arsenal were pushing to sign him during the January transfer window, only to be turned down.

Despite the 21-year-old recently signing a new contract at the Amex Stadium, added to the fact that they will be playing Europa League football next season, it seems as though he will be heading for the exit door.

Perhaps Arsenal will get their man in the summer, with Boyd lauding and defending the player amid the comparisons with Bissouma.

“With Bissouma, I think Brighton were, more or less, driving him out of the door and saying ‘go’,” said Boyd. “Whereas, with Caicedo, they turned down big money in January.

“I think they are two totally different players. I think we are being unfair on Caicedo (saying it’s a risk for Arsenal to sign him). He has turned up for his work. I know the club told him, for those two weeks (to stay away).

“But, for me, I think he is a Rolls-Royce of a player.”

CAICEDO TO CHALLENGE PARTEY AT ARSENAL?

For large parts of the season, Thomas Partey was one of Arsenal’s best players and a key reason why they spent so long at the top of the Premier League table.

But, as the crunch weeks arrived, his form dipped off, to the point that Mikel Arteta had to drop him to the bench.

If Arsenal sign Caicedo, then he won’t just arrive to boost the squad, but to ensure Partey stays on the bench and make that starting place his own.
