Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could abandon their interest in West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to a report.
Arsenal could change Declan Rice transfer plan
The Sun have reported that Arsenal were planning to spend big on West Ham and England international midfielder Rice in the summer transfer window.
Manager Mikel Arteta was also planning to launch a bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
However, according to The Sun, after the defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League in midweek, Arteta is now reconsidering his transfer plans.
While Arteta wants to sign a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, he could now look at potential cheaper alternatives to Rice and Caicedo.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Youri Tielemans, who is out of contract at Leicester City at the end of the season, are the two players mentioned in the report.

HITC Verdict: Bizarre
In our view, it is bizarre that Arsenal are now reportedly planning to completely their transfer plan over Declan Rice because of just one game.
Yes, that was a big match against Manchester City, but it was just one game.
Just one.
We do not see how just a single match could make a club rethink their entire transfer plan.
Rice is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, considered by former Arsenal star Paul Merson “a top player” and “a world-class player” by Gunners legend Ian Wright, and we believe that the North London club would be a better team with him in it.
