Newcastle United are set to pressure Arsenal for an answer over midfielder Joe Willock this week as they chase a deal to bring him back to Tyneside.
That’s according to The Mirror (25/07, p66), who claim that WIllock has indicated he wants to leave Arsenal and head back to Newcastle either on loan or permanently.
Newcastle are seemingly fed up of waiting and Steve Bruce wants to have an answer now on whether Willock is coming back or not.
The Magpies are yet to make any new first-team signings this summer and have held off pursuing deals for other midfielders in the hope of bringing Willock back.
Arsenal have been taking a look at him in pre-season, but the Magpies need to know sooner rather than later whether a deal is possible or not.
Willock joined Newcastle on loan back in January, enjoying a stunning period with the club by scoring eight goals in 14 games.

The 21-year-old scored in each of his last seven games for Newcastle, becoming a fan favourite before heading back to Arsenal, where he may not have a first-team role even after his exploits at St James’ Park.
We’re just over two weeks out from the start of the season, so Newcastle need an answer. Bruce and co will seemingly push this week and hopefully get the answer they want, but the ball is in Arsenal’s court.
