Moussa Diaby does not think that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will sign him amid interest from Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Newcastle are long-term admirers of Diaby and want to sign the 23-year-old France international winger from Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window.

Bayer do not actively want to sell him, but they will do business for more than €100 million (£88 million).

90min have reported that Diaby does not think that a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window is likely.

The report has claimed that Arsenal insist that they ‘were first approached by the 23-year-old’s representatives’, but the player’s ‘camp believe the opposite to be true’.

“Nevertheless, both parties do not believe that a deal will be thrashed out this window,” adds the report.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Arsenal have made contact in regard to signing the young winger.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Boost for Newcastle in chase for Arsenal-linked Moussa Diaby

In our view, the report in 90min about Arsenal and Moussa Diaby is encouraging for Newcastle United.

If the winger does not think that Arsenal will sign him, then Newcastle have a good chance of bringing him to St. James’ Park.

The Magpies will face less competition for the France international.

Newcastle are a big and established club in the Premier League who are aiming to finish in the top four, and they will be very appealing to Diaby.
