Arsenal have been made reported favourites to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic by Lazio ahead of the summer transfer window, with the midfielder expected to leave the Italian side.

According to CalcioMercato, the north London side have made the most concrete approach yet to sign the Serbian international amid growing Premier League interest in the 27-year-old, with Milinkovic-Savic tipped to finally depart Lazio after eight years at the club.

As per the report, Newcastle and West Ham are also interested in the central midfielder, though Arsenal appear to be the clear favourites to sign Milinkovic-Savic, with Mikel Arteta keen to add a player of such quality to the squad over the summer window.

Corriere dello Sport have reported that £72m could be what it takes for Milinkovic-Savic to leave Lazio at the end of this season. However, as per CalcioMercato’s latest update, the Roman club could now accept a fee of just £34m for the Serbian, a relative bargain all things considered.

Whilst Milinkovic-Savic might not be a young option many Arsenal fans expected the club to target in the summer, the midfielder’s incredible overall quality and ability to play almost any role in the centre of the park makes the Lazio man a potentially perfect signing for the Premier League leaders.

Indeed, given how cheap Milinkovic-Savic could now be available for, it would make sense why Arsenal are now pushing hard to bring the midfielder to England ahead of the summer window, with the 27-year-old a signing that could elevate the Gunners’ squad multiple levels for next season.

Arsenal’s title charge will soon lead to qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and with that comes a need to bolster the squad with world-class options in depth, something Milinkovic-Savic will provide in droves for Arteta’s side next season.

The midfielder is one of the best in Europe and capable of doing essentially everything from the position, and for a system as fluid as Arsenal’s, Milinkovic-Savic is exactly the sort of player supporters should be wanting the club to sign in the summer window.
