Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon channel that Kolo Toure is set to raid old club Arsenal and lure midfielder Miguel Azeez to his Wigan Athletic side on a permanent basis – after Azeez returned to the Gunners after a loan with UD Ibiza.
The 20-year-old midfielder went on loan for a second time in the summer, after 10 games with Portsmouth during the second half of last season. But it did not go to plan – his season-long loan cut short at the halfway stage this month.
But Arsenal icon Toure is set to hand Azeez a lifeline. The England Under-20 star, who has made his debut for the Gunners, needs a platform to go and shine. Toure is willing to give him that at struggling Championship side Wigan.
Currently rock bottom of the Championship and three points adrift, Wigan need some inspiration from somewhere. Toure will be hoping a move for a player Danny Cowley described as “outstanding”, when manager of Portsmouth.

Nixon claims that Azeez could make a “full-time move” to Wigan this month. Of course, he worked with Kevin Betsy during the latter”s spell as Arsenal Under-23 manager. Betsy is now a part of Toure’s coaching staff at Wigan.
Nixon: Toure set to raid Arsenal and lure Azeez to Wigan permanently
It is a move that suits all parties. After two loan spells, Azeez has failed to show Arsenal what he can do. Realistically, he is never going to break into Arsenal’s side on a regular basis. The likes of Charlie Patino are showing more promise.
So, a move to Wigan is a brilliant transfer for Azeez. The chance to join a man who knows Arsenal well in Toure, and to work with a coach he knows well in Betsy. At Championship level – albeit, potentially not for very long under Toure.
