Arsenal will reportedly look to recruit Jack Wilshere in their attempt to sign Declan Rice this summer, with the Emirates Stadium icon close friends with the West Ham captain.
According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar could turn to the Arsenal U-18 head coach to help in their attempt to sign Rice, with Wilshere a former teammate of the England international during his brief spell at West Ham after leaving the Gunners in 2018.
As per the report, the pair formed a close friendship in east London, and Wilshere could now be used as a source of aid for Arsenal in the summer as Arteta looks to sign the £100m-rated England international, who also looks set to leave West Ham at the end of this season.
Moreover, Arsenal are now emerging as favourites to sign Rice with Chelsea now potentially out of contention given their current league status, with the West Ham man keen to move to a club competing in the UEFA Champions League next season and aiming to challenge for silverware.

Indeed, Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points last night in a 4-0 win against Everton, and with Arteta’s side on course to return to the Champions League, Wilshere could well convince Rice to sign for the Gunners come the end of the season.
With Arsenal having money to spend, the north London side could be tempted to break their their record transfer to bring Rice to the Emirates Stadium, and Wilshere could elevate his already impressive status with the Gunners to a new level if he can help facilitate the move.
Wilshere must do all he can to convince Rice to join Arsenal

Many Arsenal fans would agree that one or two world-class central midfielders are needed if the club are to compete for the Premier League title next season as well as to impress in the Champions League, and as a result, Wilshere must do all he can to bring Rice to north London.
As we know, the West Ham captain is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a talent who could soon be on top of the world in his field. And for Arsenal, the Irons’ star is perfect for what Arteta needs in the summer int terms of midfield depth.
