TalkSPORT, among a number of other outlets, report that Arsenal have seen a second bid worth £70million rejected for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo – after an initial £60million bid rejected last week by the high-flying Seagulls.

Caicedo, 21, has thrown himself onto Arsenal’s radar as we enter the last 48 hours of the window. The 28-time Ecuador international has been strongly linked with the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Now, it looks like he may join Arsenal.

The Evening Standard say Arsenal saw a £60million bid rejected last week. Now, it appears Arsenal have made a second bid to land the midfielder. TalkSPORT say that a fee of £70million has now been rejected by Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

What next? Well, Caicedo was missing from Brighton’s last-gasp FA Cup win over Liverpool. It is clear that this saga is going to drag on into the final hours of the window and it remains if Arsenal will return with an improved third offer.

Arsenal have second bid worth £70million rejected for Brighton’s Caicedo

Whether Arsenal will get it done remains to be seen, but is Caicedo really worth that kind of fee? He is clearly a talent, a player with supreme potential. One that could eventually replace Thomas Partey in the starting XI at Arsenal.

But, is he worth £70million and a near club-record fee at Arsenal? He’s only played 31 times for Brighton, and just 26 games in the Premier League. He is one of the Premier League’s best young players but the price tag seems ridiculous.

At this late stage in the transfer window, that is probably why Caicedo is set to cost so much if he does go to Arsenal. With the Europa League on the horizon, it is a necessity that Arsenal get someone. But Caicedo is at a huge expense.
