Arsenal are reportedly contemplating making a move to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in the summer, with Tottenham also interested in the attacker.

According to CalcioMercato, the Gunners are ‘seriously thinking’ about moving for the Serbian international, with Vlahovic expected to leave Juventus at the end of this season as the 23-year-old looks to move on from Italy for a major transfer.

As per the report, Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also keen on signing Vlahovic, with CalcioMercatoWeb reporting that Tottenham are also in the mix for the former ACF Fiorentina star, who is being eyed as a potential Harry Kane replacement.

With an asking price of £91m, Vlahovic would be a club-record signing for Arsenal and an incredible sign of intent from the north London side, with Mikel Arteta failing in an attempt to bring the attacker to the Emirates Stadium last January as Juventus won the race for the attacker.

Although many Arsenal fans would love the idea of Vlahovic finally signing for the Premier League leaders, the reality is that it would make little sense for the Serbian international to join the Gunners given their current attacking options ahead of the summer.

Indeed, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have proven to be excellent strikers for Arsenal in Arteta’s system, and whilst a third-choice option could be signed, that player being a club-record addition in Vlahovic would make no sense given what the Gunners need in the window.

Vlahovic would have been a perfect striker for Arsenal had the Gunners secured the forward’s signature last year when their interest in the Serie A talisman was at its apex, and given what Arteta needs to take his squad to the next level, the 23-year-old makes zero sense as a major summer signing.

As we know, central midfield is bound to be Arsenal’s main priority in the window, and whilst Vlahovic is a sensational attacker, signing the Serbian would confuse supporters based on what the north London side actually need in the upcoming summer market.
