Galatasaray reportedly made a last-minute attempt to sign Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe, with the Turkish winter transfer window only shutting this weekend.

According to Fotomac, the Istanbul-based giants made an audacious loan proposal to sign the England international before the closure of the market, with Smith Rowe only just returning to the Arsenal first-team having spent the majority of the season out through injury.

As you can expect, the attempt was seemingly rejected by Arsenal, with Smith Rowe featuring for the Gunners this weekend in their dramatic 3-2 win against AFC Bournemouth, with the 22-year-old assisting Thomas Partey’s second-half goal that kickstarted the comeback win.

Lauded by Mikel Arteta as an ‘incredible’ player, Smith Rowe is one of Arsenal’s highest-rated youngsters and a player who many supporters are tipping to become an integral part of their long-term plans, with the playmaker capable of playing numerous positions.

Indeed, Smith Rowe’s role in Arsenal’s win against Bournemouth highlighted just how important the winger’s role at the club is for both this season and the years to come, and Galatasaray making a move to sign the youngster is audacious, to say the least.

Having already landed Nicolo Zaniolo in January, Galatasaray are seemingly high on confidence to sign another top European prospect, and whilst Smith Rowe fits the bill for this type of player, the Arsenal star is not leaving north London anytime soon.

Smith Rowe’s future at Arsenal is under no real concern given how little the winger has played this season due to injury, yet for Galatasaray to even make a bid to sign the youngster is extraordinary, with the Hale End graduate only at the start of his Premier League career.

The forward impressed on Saturday against Bournemouth in his cameo at the Emirates, and with Smith Rowe signing a long-term contract in the summer of 2021, the youngster is unlikely to leave England anytime soon, let alone for Turkey.
