Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that 2 Premier League clubs tried to sign Arsenal prospect Folarin Balogun last summer before he decided to join Reims on loan.
The £32,000-a-week striker has taken Ligue 1 by storm, topping the goalscoring charts with 14 goals, outscoring the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
It seems as if 2 Premier League clubs always saw how talented Folarin Balogun is, as they were keen on the youngster’s signature, who was once called ‘incredible’ by Mikel Arteta.
2 Premier League clubs wanted to sign Balogun before Reims loan
The ‘complete’ New York-born goalscorer has always generated headlines since rising up the ranks from the Gunners academy, often recognised as one of the most talented players from the youth ranks.
It seems as if other clubs seems to have realised this too, with Fabrizio Romano telling Caught Offside, “Arsenal never thought of Balogun back in January, they wanted to protect him as Reims loan has been an excellent decision. Some Italian clubs wanted Balogun in July and also 2 Premier League clubs and Borussia Monchengladbach but France was the best option. Arsenal will decide his future in May or June, not now.”

Currently, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah remain indispensable figures at the Emirates Stadium and keeping that in mind, it would be a hard task for any striker to take their places.
The same applies for the ‘brilliant’ Folarin Balogun and if Arsenal do plan to quench his need for game time by selling him to either of the 2 Premier League clubs or well, any interested side, they must include a buy-back clause.
Losing out on a talent like the Englishman, who may turn out to be a more natural goalscorer than even their current options would be sacrilegious.
