Arsenal’s Arthur Okonkwo is seemingly set for another loan spell.

The towering goalkeeper spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Crewe Alexandra in League Two.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims the Arsenal-raised youngster – who is still at Crewe – is set for another adventure, this time of the European variety.

According to the reliable Italian journalist, Okonkwo is set to join Austrian outfit Sturm Graz until the end of the season.

Here’s what he has tweeted:

The 21-year-old was labelled a ‘huge talent’ by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta last year, as covered by HITC Sport.

And it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares on loan in Austria.

The Athletic originally reported that Sturm Graz – who are second in their division – were in talks to sign the Hale End graduae, but Romano’s update seems to indicate that it’s relatively imminent at this stage.

It’s the right decision for Arsenal and Okonkwo both.

Although goalkeepers generally don’t mature until their late 20s, it’s massively important for the youngster to get regular football under his belt as soon as possible.

And although he had it in the fourth tier, this is a major step up in class and it’ll be fascinating to see how he gets on.
