Borussia Dortmund have reportedly entered the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Belgian international is on the German side’s radar, Dortmund offering Arsenal ‘genuine competition’ for Tielemans, who is expected to leave Leicester at the end of this season for free when his contract expires.

Earning a reported £120,000-a-week, the 25-year-old midfielder could be an exceptional signing for many of Europe’s biggest clubs, and with Dortmund expected to sell a key player this summer in one Jude Bellingham, signing Tielemans would make a lot of sense for the Bundesliga giants.

Tielemans has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Leicester from Monaco in 2019, and this summer looks to finally be the window that the Foxes’ star finally earns his big move to a UEFA Champions League side, with Dortmund now in the race.

Indeed, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Tielemans for what feels like the beginning of time itself, yet despite interest from the club and the player himself, Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to make an official bid to sign the midfielder from their Premier League rivals.

WIth central midfield a position Arsenal are looking to strengthen in the summer, Tielemans could be a great target for the north London side. However, Dortmund’s interest could cause some problems for the Gunners, with the Bundesliga an ideal location for the 25-year-old.

Bellingham leaving Dortmund this summer seems to feel like a forgone conclusion, and as a result, the German side need a world-class replacement to fill in for the England international, something Tielemans can provide, and the midfielder could also be keen on a move to the Bundesliga.

Whilst Tielemans could be a regular for Arsenal, Dortmund would offer the Belgian more minutes than what the Gunners can provide, with the Black and Yellows also able to guarantee the midfielder’s dream of playing in the Champions League year after year.
