Arsenal central defender William Saliba would love to join Paris Saint-Germain in the future, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs in CaughtOffSide.

The report has claimed that Arsenal and France international centre-back Saliba ‘would absolutely be open’ to a move to defending Ligue 1 champions PSG in the coming years if he got the chance to do so.

Jacobs has added that PSG could make a move for the 21-year-old centre-back in the future.

According to the journalist, the youngster would turn out for PSG despite having played for PSG.

Arsenal defender William Saliba open to Paris Saint-Germain transfer

Jacobs wrote: “PSG are still one to watch in the long-term. They’re desperate to buy young, and desperate to buy French, so if no deal is signed there could be a window of opportunity there.

“Some say Saliba wouldn’t be prepared to play for PSG having also represented OM, but remember Saliba was born in Bondy, six miles from the centre of Paris.

“He would absolutely be open to joining if it became an option one day. Still, the advantage Arsenal have is that PSG have locked in Milan Skriniar on a free transfer for the summer, and in the last hours of January they might try to get him now, so it means they’ve got a centre-back.

“Arsenal will probably be quite happy that that’s been done because it gives PSG their number one target in that position.”

Should the Gunners worry?

In our view, Arsenal need not worry too much about Paris Saint-Germain making a move for William Saliba in the coming years.

Yes, Saliba is doing well at the moment, but the Gunners can call upon Ben White to play at centre-back.

The English defender has been playing as a right-back so far this season despite being a centre-back by trade.

There is no way that Arsenal will sell Saliba in the summer of 2023, especially if they win the Premier League title this season.

And even if PSG try to sign the Frenchman in the coming years, Arsenal could ask for a lot of money in transfer fees and sign someone even better with the money.
