Arsenal have reportedly triggered the option to extend Bukayo Saka’s contract by one year to 2024, with Mikel Arteta eager to sign the attacker to a new long-term deal.
According to the Daily Mail, the north London side have taken up the clause to extend Saka’s contract with the Gunners by an extra year, with the England international one of three key first-team players Arsenal are keen to sign a new deal.
As per the report, Arsenal have triggered similar clauses for the likes of William Saliba and Charlie Patino, with the French centre-back and Gabriel Martinelli two players the Gunners are eager to sign to new long-term contracts based on their performances this season.
Saka has been one of the best wingers in the Premier League this campaign, with the 21-year-old bagging seven goals and six assists in all competitions, with the attacker also scoring three times for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the Three Lions.

Lauded as ‘incredible’ by Alan Shearer, Saka has been instrumental in Arsenal’s sensational results this season that has taken the north London side to the top of the Premier League table. And the Gunners’ form will no doubt play a massive role in the winger committing his future to the club.
Indeed, Saka has the potential to become one of Arsenal’s best players in the Premier League era, and the club making the decision to extend the winger’s contract by one extra year will give Arteta and his team the time needed to secure the youngster to a new long-term deal.

It would be something of an understatement to say that Saka has been incredible for Arsenal this season, with the attacker getting better with each passing match and continuing to add to his game that makes the England international that bit more dangerous. And the Gunners have to work quickly to sign the forward down to a new deal.
After all, Saka is one of the best players to come out of Arsenal’s academy in some time, and the north London side know that signing the winger to a new contract will be huge in Arteta’s plans to take the Premier League giants back to their best.
