A fresh report has claimed that Chelsea are plotting a summer transfer involving Arsenal-linked midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

It was reported in April that Mikel Arteta’s side tried to sign the Algerian international before he penned a contract extension in January.

As Arsenal remain interested in completing a transfer for Ismael Bennacer, Chelsea are also hoping to sign the highly-acclaimed technician.

Chelsea now plotting Ismael Bennacer transfer

Since joining AC Milan, the 25-year-old has emerged as one of their most key players, especially as part of their Serie A-winning campaign and this season, as they find themselves in a Champions League semi-final.

As a No.8 as well as when deployed in a deeper role, the diminutive midfielder’s ability to dictate the tempo of the game and win duels is comparable to that of Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.

Chelsea have clearly taken note of how special a player Ismael Bennacer has been during his time in Milan, as Competition report that they consider him as a transfer priority.

The same goes for Arsenal, who also remain keen on signing Bennacer alongside another Premier League side in Liverpool.

Interestingly, it has been stated that despite the former Gunners youth player extending his contract until 2027, he could still leave the club in the summer.

HITC View: Arsenal must stop Chelsea from signing him

Branded as ‘spectacular’ and a ‘fighter’ by Arsene Wenger himself on the Gunners’ official website, it seems as if the majestic midfielder has always been a one-of-a-kind footballer.

Ismael Bennacer would be the ideal transfer for Arsenal, helping them control games to an even higher degree than currently, which is a vital reason why they must ensure he snubs Chelsea for a return to the Emirates.

Bennacer could function in Xhaka’s more withdrawn role from last season, whilst also pulling the strings as a ‘regista’ for Mikel Arteta’s side, making him a potentially superb addition to this side.
