Arsenal are close to securing two big moves to address their weaknesses by signing a centre-back and a striker.

Shkodran Mustafi is set to sign from Valencia and Lucas Perez is also poised to switch from Deportivo.

Mustafi

The Guardian report Arsenal have agreed a £35 million fee with Valencia for Mustafi, after a fortnight of negotiations.

The paper claim he is set to fly in on Friday with a view to undergoing a medical, with personal terms already agreed.

The German international will address a key gap in defence with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista out injured.

Arsenal’s initial bid for Mustafi was £20 million, but they have ceded to Valencia’s demands in order to get their man.

Perez

Deportivo striker Lucas Perez is also set to fly in to undertake a medical with the Gunners, report The Sun.

Arsenal have triggered a £17 million release clause, and have beaten Everton to the deal.

The Gunners had originally wanted to pay the fee in two instalments, but have now agreed to pay it all up front to land the striker.

The paper claim there is an outside chance of the deal being done in time for Perez to play against Watford this weekend.
